The NERITES project was successfully presented by Laser Zentrum Hannover (LZH) at the the EMRA 2024 (European Marine Robotics and Applications) in May from 27 to 29, 2024, in Arenzano of Italy. This year’s seminar, which already marks 10 years of presence, is organized under various EU-funded projects such as MONUSEN, MAELSTROM, UWIN-LABUST, SeaTecHub, FAITH, and DIH InnovaMARE.
EMRA 2024 aims to gather a wide range of participants, including speakers from current H2020-H-Europe projects, industry experts, end users, and stakeholders. The event is designed to be interdisciplinary, providing a unique platform for networking and idea exchange across various aspects of marine robotics, including enabling technologies and their applications.
Dr.-Ing EWE Jörg Hermsdorf from Laser Zentrum Hannover (LZH) presented the innovation of the NERITES project in Session 3 entitled “Horizon Projects”. In this context, he focused on the importance of monitoring and analyzing underwater monuments, the technology used by the project, providing Systematic autonomous remote surveying of underwater cultural heritage monuments and objects using non-destructive, but cost-effective and portable digital solutions. The aim of his contribution and presentation of the project was to increase the visibility of the project and to network new interest groups for marine research.
The conference program included 24 project presentations, an opening session focusing on the research and innovation needs of stakeholders, and a closing roundtable discussion. These discussions focused on possible ways to improve synergies between different funding programs. The workshop format provided ample time for discussion and networking, allowing participants to make valuable contacts and exchange ideas.
