NERITES Project at the ARCHE Workshop in Rome

On Tuesday, December 3rd, 2024, the NERITES project was presented at the Workshop titled Building the Research and Innovation Alliance on Cultural Heritage, held at Palazzo Poli in Rome’s city center and online. The event was organized by the Italian Ministry of Culture within the framework of the ARCHE Project (Alliance for Research on Cultural Heritage in Europe), funded by the Horizon Europe Programme.

This workshop was the second in a series of six events dedicated to Member States and Associated Countries involved in the ARCHE project. Specifically targeting Southern Europe and the Mediterranean area, the event sought to build a global network of partners for the upcoming European Partnership for Resilient Cultural Heritage (RCH). This partnership aligns with the Horizon Europe framework strategy to foster international cooperation and address critical challenges in the cultural heritage sector.

The workshop featured the presentation of the preliminary Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) for ARCHE and the RCH partnership. It included discussions on policies and research priorities in cultural heritage, with a specific focus on Southern Europe, the Mediterranean area, and Italy. Participants engaged in a working session requiring electronic devices for interactive participation.

Dr. Carlotta Sacco Perasso represented the NERITES project during the Italian Panel in the afternoon session. The presentation emphasized the innovative role of the NERITES project within the broader cultural heritage research landscape. It highlighted the importance of autonomous technologies and their potential to address contemporary challenges in the preservation and resilience of cultural heritage.

The ARCHE Project, funded by the Horizon Europe Programme, commenced in September 2022 and aims to establish a pan-European framework for a holistic approach to cultural heritage research and innovation. Coordinated by the Fondation des Sciences du Patrimoine (France), the consortium includes 24 partners from 18 countries.

NERITES’ involvement in this prestigious event underscores its commitment to bridging research and innovation in the cultural heritage sector. Through participation in initiatives like ARCHE, NERITES continues to contribute to the development of resilient and sustainable solutions for preserving cultural heritage, inspiring further research, and fostering international collaboration.
