NERITES at the CAA2025 Workshop

The NERITES Project was presented by Lydia Stergiopoulou from Atlantis Consulting during the Workshop #10: “Towards a Green Cluster for Cultural Heritage”, held on May 5, 2025, as part of the CAA Conference in Athens, Greece. The event was organized under the auspices of the Green Cluster, a Horizon Europe–funded collaborative platform that unites forward-thinking projects committed to preserving cultural heritage through sustainable innovation.

The Green Cluster promotes synergy across three foundational pillars:

  1. Green technologies and eco-friendly materials for cultural heritage preservation
  2. Strategies to understand and mitigate the impacts of climate change and natural hazard
  3. Advanced remote sensing and monitoring technologies for cultural assets

During the session, NERITES was presented alongside fellow Green Cluster initiatives including the ChemiNovaARGUS, and iPhotoCult Eu projects. Each project is contributing pioneering research in photonics, spectroscopy, AI-driven imaging, and digital diagnostics, underwater robotics systems addressing the pressing need for resilient, scalable solutions in cultural heritage conservation.

The NERITES Project continues to make strides in developing green, cost-efficient, non-invasive, and high-precision technologies for the remote surveying and monitoring of Underwater Cultural Heritage (UCH). By working within the Green Cluster framework, NERITES and its partners are fostering knowledge exchange, technological integration, and scientific collaboration to protect cultural treasures from the dual threats of climate change and natural ground degradation.

The NERITES team extends its appreciation to the Green Cluster for curating this impactful platform, reaffirming its commitment to protecting our underwater cultural legacy through innovation, cooperation, and sustainability.
